Acne may causes psychological distress that is associated with many psychiatric disorders. ¹

For many people who have acne, the skin disease affects more than their appearance. Acne can take a toll on one’s emotional health:²

LOW SELF-ESTEEM:

65.5% of adolescents with acne had low self-esteem and 61.8% had body image dissatisfaction.³ 70% of acne patients aged 30 to 39 years were most bothered by the appearance of acne.⁴

DEPRESSION: Studies reveal that teens with acne have a higher risk of developing depression, than do teens who have the occasional pimple.5  68% of patients reported acne affected their social activities, where they avoided social gatherings during an acne flare.6
